
GCTU in collaboration with African Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS), has organized a seminar on Bridging the Gap between talent and industry for Students on June 16, 2026 at the Auditorium of the Eight Storey Building, Tesano Campus.
The programme, which was designed to enhance students’ graduate employability by equipping them with the knowledge, skills and industry insights needed to succeed, was held on the theme: Bridging the gap between talent and technology.

In his keynote address, the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems (FoCIS), Prof. Kester Quist-Aphetsi, highlighted the significant role of the University environment in shaping future success. He shared insights from his entrepreneurial journey and encouraged students to learn from the experiences shared during the seminar for future use. He additionally encouraged the students to work on their ideas, be focused and be confident in whatever they do.

Senior Lecturer and Coordinator for ACCESS, Dr. Afia Nyarko Boakye, who moderated the programme, described it as a platform for entrepreneurial learning and encouraged the students to engage actively in the presentations and pursue their passions intentionally.
She acknowledged the University Management for their unwavering support and lauded the Dean of the FoCIS, Prof. Quist-Aphetsi and the Speakers for honouring the invitation to engage with the students.
In a related development, the Coordinator of ACCESS-Ghana and Senior Lecturer at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Dr. Ralph Nyadu-Addo, in his address, outlined ACCESS’s mission and activities and encouraged students to register their contact details to receive early information on future opportunities with ACCESS.

In a presentation, a Senior Lecturer, Consultant and Cyber Security Expert from FoCIS, Dr. Nana Kofi Annan, spoke about digital skills and technology for modern entrepreneurs. He highlighted on how having digital technology skills plays a major role in advancing entrepreneurship in today’s world. He further encouraged the students to take their project work seriously, noting that many successful businesses began as student projects. He urged them to leverage their digital skills for future opportunities.

The CEO of Stickerghana and a GCTU alumnus, Mr. Gordon S. Dogbe, delivered a presentation on personal branding and professional development. He encouraged students to identify their niche, build on their ideas, embrace feedback and develop innovative business solutions.

Finally, the CEO OF IKIE Catfish and Lecturer at the GCTU Business School, Dr. Amoah-Ahinful, spoke on turning skills and talents into successful business ventures. He emphasized the importance of a positive entrepreneurial attitude, noting that the difference between talent and enterprise often lies in the entrepreneur’s mindset.
The Seminar ended with an interactive question-and-answer session where participants sought clarification on various aspects of being an entrepreneur.
