The Sports Directorate of GCTU has officially presented medals won at the 2026 Mini Ghana University Sports Association (GUSA) Games to Management on June 25, 2026, in the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom at the Tesano Campus.
During a brief presentation ceremony, the Director of Sports, Dr. Emmanuel Yaw Assasie, indicated that GCTU successfully participated in the 2026 Mini GUSA Games, hosted by UPSA from May 5 to 15, 2026. As reported in the University’s Newsflash of May 20, 2026, GCTU fielded 31 contestants in four sporting disciplines, winning one gold medal in table tennis and one bronze medal in tennis. Dr. Assasie presented the medals to the University’s Management in recognition of the team’s achievements.
Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the University Council, Ing. Divine D. K. Kpetigo, commended the team for bringing honor to GCTU and encouraged them to remain committed to excellence in future sporting events.
He further urged the athletes to strive for even greater successes by winning more medals and trophies in subsequent competitions.
The Council Chairman called on Management to continue providing the necessary logistical and financial support to the Directorate to enable the University’s sports teams to participate effectively in future competitions and achieve greater success.
The ceremony served as an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of the athletes and reaffirm the University’s commitment to promoting sports as an integral part of student development and campus life.
