GCTU has organized a one-day training session on Accreditation Management Information System (AIMS) for Deans of Faculty/School and HoDs at the Tesano Campus on October 13, 2025.
The training formed part of GTEC’s initiative to transition from a manual accreditation process to a full digital platform designed to streamline institutional processes and enhance efficiency across tertiary institutions in Ghana.

In his opening remarks, the Director of Quality Assurance and Promotions and also the Administrator for the AIMS system at GCTU, Prof. Wahab Iddrisu Abdul noted, that GTEC no longer accepts manual applications for accreditation. This, he said, necessitated the University’s decision to invite resource persons from GTEC’s AIMS IT Department to train key academic and administrative staff who will use the new system to facilitate accreditation processes.

The training was facilitated by the Acting Head of Department, Mr. Benjamin Hackman and a Senior Software Engineer Mr. Hussian Alhassan with the AIMS Unit of GTEC who took participants through the key features of the AIMS platform, including data entry procedures, approval workflows and submission processes. The training also provided an opportunity for participants to ask questions and gain hands-on experience with the system.

In an interview, Mr. Alhassan explained that the AIMS platform has been introduced to replace the manual accreditation system, which was often time-consuming. He noted, that the new digital system is expected to significantly reduce the productive hours spent on processing accreditation applications. Mr. Alhassan further highlighted, that the system was designed and developed by the AIMS Department of GTEC to enable both public and private universities in Ghana to process applications, approvals and academic documentation more effectively.
The training is expected to equip GCTU’s academic and administrative staff with the necessary skills to fully adopt the new system and facilitate a smooth transition from manual processes to a more efficient digital platform.

With the introduction of this new digital system, the era where University accreditation officers have had to print volumes of documents for submission to GTEC will, from now, be a thing of the past.
