
The Directorate of Human Resources and Organizational Development (DHROD) has organized a two-day orientation programme to officially welcome the 2025/2026 cohort of National Service Personnel from 11th to 12th March 2026 at the Centre for Innovation, Technology Skills and Entrepreneurship Training (CITSET).
The orientation aimed to introduce participants to the culture and operations of the University while equipping them with essential information to excel in their assigned roles.
In her opening remarks, the Director of University Relations and Chairperson for the ceremony, Dr. Nusrat-Jahan Abubakar, provided an overview of the University’s mission, vision and organizational structure. She emphasized the importance of confidentiality and integrity, noting that “keeping secrets builds trust and credibility in the corporate world.”
The Director of DHROD and convenor of the programme, Dr. Emmanuel Adjepong, congratulated the personnel and encouraged them to contribute meaningfully to the growth of the University. He urged them to embrace professionalism and ethics, stating, “I encourage you to understand your roles and take advantage of this orientation to learn about the expectations, work ethics and standards required.”

Also speaking at the event, the Head of Administration at the School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR), Dr. Mark Ofori Nketia, highlighted the range of postgraduate programmes available and encouraged participants to consider further studies during their service period to enhance their competitiveness in the job market.
The Head of Technical Services and Senior Assistant Librarian, Ms. Asmawu Abubakar, introduced participants to the University Library’s hybrid services, including access to electronic databases and information literacy training. She encouraged them to register with the e-library to support their academic and professional development.
The Head of Teaching and Examinations at the Directorate of Academic Affairs, Mr. Michael C. Hormenu, outlined the Directorate’s role in implementing academic policies and managing examinations. He stressed the importance of diligence in supporting students through services such as attestation letters and examination logistics.
Providing insights into student support services, Assistant Registrar at the Office of Student Affairs, Mrs. Joyce Frances Acquah, explained the Office’s responsibilities, including admissions, accommodation, financial support, counselling and career development. She encouraged personnel to direct students to the Office for both formal and informal concerns.
The Assistant Registrar at the Centre for Strategic Business and Professional Development (CSBPD), Ms. Cynthia Ampadu-Boateng, highlighted the Centre’s role in generating income beyond tuition and building industry partnerships. She urged personnel to actively promote the University’s services to external stakeholders.
Other presentations were delivered by representatives from various units and directorates, including the Directorate of University Relations, Directorate of Finance, GCTU Business School, Faculty of Computing and Information Systems, Faculty of Engineering, CITSET, Directorate of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Department of Industrial Liaison (DIL), Institute of Continuing and Distance Education (ICDE), the Directorate of General Administration and Operations (DGAO), the Procurement Unit and the Right to Information (RTI) Office. These sessions provided participants with a broader understanding of the University’s structure, services, policies and operational procedures.
In a brief remark, the Director of CSBPD and Co-Chair of the programme, Mrs. Araba Hackman Akanji, advised participants to “learn, unlearn and relearn because knowledge is volatile,” while encouraging them to demonstrate strong soft skills and uphold ethical standards.
The orientation concluded with the formal induction of the National Service Personnel into the University community by Dr. Emmanuel Adjepong, who urged them to apply the knowledge gained throughout the programme in their respective roles.
