
The third edition of the GCTU Staff Durbar came off on Friday, January 31, 2025, at the Great Hall of the University.
The event offered a unique platform for the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, to outline his vision and key strategic priorities for the 2025 academic year to the University community.
A major highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to deserving staff members who distinguished themselves through hard work, dedication, and exceptional service in the 2024 academic year. Awards were presented across various categories, covering Junior Staff, Senior Staff, Administrative/Professional Senior Members, and Academic Senior Members as follows:

Junior Staff Awards
The following Junior Staff members were recognized for their outstanding contributions in their respective roles:
- Best Security Guard: Mr. Andrew Opoku Boakye (Assistant Security Officer, General Administration & Operations)
- Best Cleaner: Ms. Awinpoka Atandigre (Senior Messenger/Cleaner, General Administration & Operations)
- Best Artisan: Mr. Christopher Nartey (Artisan, Works and Physical Development)
- Best Driver: Mr. Emmanuel Lantey Lamptey (Senior Driver, General Administration & Operations)
- Best Labourer: Mr. Emmanuel Morti (Senior Labourer, General Administration & Operations)
- Best Supervisor: Mr. David Akator (Senior Driver, General Administration & Operations)

Senior Staff Awards
Outstanding Senior Staff were honoured for excellence in administrative, professional, and technical roles:
- Administrative Senior Staff: Ms. Berlinda Boadu (Principal Administrative Assistant, Computing and Information Systems)
- Professional Senior Staff: Ms. Juliana Amamu (Chief Auditing Assistant, Internal Audit)
- Technical Senior Staff: Mr. Solomon Nene Kweku-Duah (Principal ICT Assistant, ICT Directorate)

Administrative/Professional Senior Members Awards
In the Administrative/Professional Senior Members category, the following individuals were awarded:
- Administrative Senior Member: Mrs. Daniella Adwoa Nartey (Assistant Registrar, Directorate of General Administration and Operations)
- Professional Senior Member: Rev. Lewi Amanor Agbozo (Senior Accountant, Directorate of Finance)
- Technical Senior Member: Mr. Daniel Mohammed (Senior Systems Analyst, Directorate of ICT)
- Service: Mrs. Lucy Ewuresi Eghan (Senior Assistant Registrar, University Relations)
- Head of Department Award: Mr. Francis Edjah (Deputy Registrar, University Relations)

Academic Senior Members Awards
The Business School dominated the academic awards category, with Dr. Esther Asiedu emerging as a multiple award winner.

Mrs. Susan Aryee, one of seven retirees to be honoured for their years of loyal and selfless service to the University. Honouring Retirees
The University also paid glowing tribute to its retired staff, acknowledging their invaluable contributions and years of dedicated service. Plaques and citations were presented to:
- Dr. Ernest Ninfah – Lecturer, Business School (11 years)
- Theophilus Amatey Ashetey – Lecturer (14 years)
- Mrs. Susan Aryee (12 years)
- Mr. Victor Atuahene Acheampong (12 years)
- Mr. James Darko (12 years)
- Mr. Gregory Osei Mensah (6 years)
- Mr. Thomas Obena Anko (7 years)
The annual gathering, which brought together staff from various directorates and faculties, served not only as a forum for engagement but also as an occasion to celebrate excellence and dedication among staff.
