The Career Development Unit (CDU) of the Office of the Dean of Student Affairs has organized a two-day Skills Development Training programme on Fabric Softener production, Bead and Liquid Soap making for students from 11th to 12th June, 2025, at the University gardens, main campus.
The event aimed at providing students with hands-on experience and valuable skills for daily life and future career paths.

In her remarks, the Head of CDU, Mrs. Joyce Frances Acquah, emphasized that the training programme is designed to equip students with valuable skills that will enable them to earn an income both during their time at the University and after graduation. She highlighted success stories from last year, noting that some students became entrepreneurs, which contributed to reducing unemployment.
On the first day, the President of the NUGS-GCTU Local Secretariat and Resource Person, Ms. Ellen Appiah, guided participants through sessions on ‘Fabric Softener Production’ and ‘Liquid Soap Making.’ She explained that while the two processes share some similarities, they differ in terms of ingredients, proportions, and mixing techniques. Ms. Appiah detailed the production steps, necessary ingredients and fundamental guidelines for both products, highlighting the key considerations specific to each.
