GCTU Establishes Education Partnership With ABE, UK

GCTU has taken a giant stride towards enhancing business and entrepreneurship education after officially partnering with Association of Business Executives UK (ABE).

The partnership agreement was formalized during a meeting held at the VC’s Board Room, on 4th March 2024.

The meeting, chaired by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, centered on fostering a long-term collaborative relationship between GCTU and ABE-UK, focusing on initiatives aimed at bolstering business and entrepreneurship education across the nation.

Prof. Afoakwa expressed GCTU’s enthusiasm for the partnership, emphasizing the institution’s commitment to nurturing an entrepreneurial spirit among its students. He highlighted GCTU’s special mandate to become an entrepreneurial and enterprise University, underscoring the importance of incorporating technology into student training.

In response, the ABE Director of Africa, Caribbean and America, Mrs. Kereesa Kerington Nunez, commended GCTU for its swift accreditation process, hailing it as one of the fastest institutions to be accredited by ABE in 2024. She outlined ABE’s vision to expand its portfolio in Ghana, particularly focusing on business and entrepreneurship education. Mrs. Nunez elaborated on the comprehensive support ABE intends to provide, including faculty training, branding initiatives and access to international university programmes.

The partnership aims to facilitate seamless progression for students, allowing them to transition from ABE’s Level 5 and 6 programmes to the final year of a UK degree at the University of Hertfordshire. This strategic collaboration aligns with ABE’s mission to make education accessible globally and empower individuals to become qualified business practitioners.

Furthermore, Mrs. Nunez assured GCTU of ABE’s comprehensive support, both locally and internationally, emphasizing joint marketing efforts, employer consultations and media engagements to enhance the visibility of the partnership.

Other key officials at the meeting included the Country Manager, Mr. Isaac Yeboah, Director of Finance, Mrs. Cynthia Deyzer and Business Development Support, Dora Debrah. On GCTU’s side were the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Robert Ebo Hinson, Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, Dean of the Business School, Prof. George Ampong, Director of CSBPD, Mrs. Araba Akanji and heads of the Business School Departments.
