Members of the Audit Board, GCTU SRC, have received training in Public Financial Management (PFM) and Budgetary Governance on May 29, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Conference Room.
The training, which was organized by the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) Audit Board, was designed to deepen participants’ practical understanding of budgeting, expenditure control, fiscal discipline and financial reporting. Additionally, It is expected to promote accountability, transparency and sound financial management within student governance structures.
Speaking at the event, the Head of the Budget Development Unit of the Ministry of Finance, Mr. Jonathan Dzikunu, said the engagement was to strengthen the SRC’s financial management practices. He urged student leaders to uphold discipline, responsible leadership and sound financial governance among other expectations.
Other facilitators from the Ministry, including Mr. Kwabena Britwum, Ms. Vida Asare and Mr. Joseph Tetteh-Fio, assisted participants with knowledge in public financial management basics, focusing on budgeting, implementation, expenditure monitoring, accountability, fiscal responsibility, and regulatory compliance. They also stressed on financial controls to prevent misuse and ensure value for money. The session also covered Ghana’s financial policies and governance, urging student leaders to apply these practices in managing student affairs and funds.
Finally, a platform was created at the session for participants to engage in an interactive question-and-answer session, which enabled them to seek clarification and gain a deeper understanding of the issues discussed.
