GTUC Registrar & Phd Chair Attend Maiden International Women’s Leadership Summit

The International Women’s Leadership Summit

On Friday 23rd August, 2019, the British Council hosted the 2019 edition of the International Women’s Leadership Summit. The event, which was themed “Empowered Women, Empowered Communities” was jointly organized by the Association of Women in Media (ASWIM), Empowering Strategies for Health and Development (EM- STRAD), the Korean based Expat Professional and Business Women’s Network (EPBWN) and Ghana Technology University College (GTUC).

The summit brought together women in various leadership positions who took part in a wide range of panel discussions centering on topics such as Women’s health, Gender equality in politics, as well as Personal and professional growth for women in leadership positions among others.

In attendance at the programme were the Registrar of GTUC, Dr. Mrs. Juliana Owusu-Ansah, and Dr. Esther Asiedu, the GTUC PhD Chair and they were joined by a host of other important female leaders, including the Director of News at Daily Graphic, Mavis Kitcher, Dr. Bilkisu Magoro Bilmor, A Nigerian politician and the President and Founder of EFBWN, Princess Nwakego Ibrahim-Pam.

The GTUC Registrar, Dr. Mrs Owusu-Ansah, gave an inspired welcome address and took the opportunity to tell the participants about the unique education that is offered at GTUC, particularly emphasizing the unique nature of the technology-based training that the University specializes in.

Also, on behalf of Hon. Freda Prempeh, the Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Protection, our PhD Chair, Dr. Asiedu read a statement that highlighted the key role of women in transforming society, in particular, outlining the fact that Ghana continues to support these roles through the establishment of several related policies and legislative interventions.

Overall, the event proved to be a marvelous success and we are hopeful that GTUC will continue to collaborate in future editions, providing an increased platform for some of our talented female students to showcase their potential and learn from the experiences and guidance of our inspirational women leaders.
