In an exclusive interview, Prof. Wahab emphasized that the institution submitted an application to GTEC previously for GCTU to be granted institutional accreditation, enabling the Abeka campus to be used as a learning centre for GCTU’s distance learning programmes. He further added that the first stage of the assessment involved sending an expert to evaluate the library facility at the Abeka campus and to submit a report to GTEC, with a copy forwarded to GCTU to address issues raised.

Prof. Wahab noted that the second stage involved GTEC sending an architect to assess the physical infrastructure, submitting their report to GTEC and GCTU for responses to issues raised. He stressed that the final stage involves GTEC’s Institutional Accreditation Board visiting the institution for an independent assessment and interviews with top officials before granting accreditation.

Giving his remarks, the Director of Accreditation at GTEC, Mr. Saaka Sayuti and his delegation were impressed with the comprehensive presentation, relevant questions asked and answers received from the GCTU team.  Meanwhile, Mr. Sayuti and his team expressed some concerns during the Abeka campus tour, and the GCTU team assured them that measures were far advanced to address those concerns.
