The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, paid a working visit to the Kumasi Learning Centre on 9 July 2025.

He initially met with the leadership of the Centre and deliberated on issues militating against the smooth operations of the Centre, as well as strategies to improve their activities and enhance service delivery.

Prof. Afoakwa also met with the staff to learn at first hand the challenges affecting their work. During the interaction, staff outlined a number of requests aimed at improving conditions at the Centre. One of the critical issues raised was the prompt release of funds to the Centre for its operations. The staff expressed concern that since the beginning of the year, the Centre had not received any funds, which was negatively impacting their ability to function effectively. In response, the Vice-Chancellor advised that all requests for funds should be routed through the Institute of Continuing and Distance Education (ICDE) to ensure proper processing and disbursement.

Other issues discussed included access to a reliable internet service provider to boost operations, the mounting of signages for better visibility, paving of the compound and provision of a panel hospital to support staff healthcare.

He assured the staff of his commitment to engage the Management of the University to address the issues raised and reiterated Management’s support for the Centre in achieving its objectives.

The Vice-Chancellor was accompanied by the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo.
