The outgoing Registrar of GCTU, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, has expressed deep pride and satisfaction in his accomplishments at GCTU as he leaves his position as Registrar.
Mr. Baidoo made the remark at a farewell dinner held in his honour by the University on 12th June 2026 at Tomreik Hotel in Accra.
Delivering his farewell address, Mr. Baidoo, whose tenure officially ended on 31st May 2026 after four years of dedicated service to the University, reflected on his tenure with gratitude and satisfaction, describing his departure as a transition rather than an end to his professional service.
“As I step away, I do so with a deep sense of fulfilment and pride – pride in what we have accomplished together and pride in being part of the history of the Ghana Communication Technology University,” he said.
Mr. Baidoo noted that his decision not to seek a second term followed careful reflection and emphasized that he remained committed to supporting the University whenever called upon.
During his tenure, he spearheaded a vision anchored on five key strategic priorities: improving administrative efficiency through reforms, coordinating the activities of administrative directorates, developing the next generation of administrators through capacity building, providing effective administrative support to strengthen the University’s academic enterprise and promoting stakeholder engagement.
He highlighted several achievements, including strengthening governance committees, improving records management systems and enhancing administrative support structures across the institution. He attributed these accomplishments to the collective efforts of Council, Management and staff.
“I wish to reiterate that none of these would have been possible without the cooperation and support I enjoyed from Council, Management and all staff. The spirit of teamwork, comradeship and mutual respect made the work effective and enjoyable,” he stated.

Earlier, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Malcalm, paid glowing tribute to Mr. Baidoo, describing him as a consummate professional whose administrative competence and commitment to excellence became evident from their very first interaction during the Registrar recruitment process.
“I was impressed by his professionalism, his organisation and his deep understanding of university administrative processes,” Prof. Malcalm recalled. “Mr. Baidoo is a gentleman par excellence and this evening we are here to celebrate his legacy of service and leadership.”
The Acting Vice-Chancellor further assured guests that although Mr. Baidoo was leaving office, he would continue to serve as a valuable resource person to the University, particularly on registry and governance matters.

The Chairman of the Governing Council, Ing. Divine Kpetigo, also commended the outgoing Registrar for his dedication and significant contributions during a critical period in the University’s history.
According to him, Mr. Baidoo assumed office at a time when GCTU was navigating one of the most important transitions in its development – from a private institution to a public university.
“At such a crucial time, Mr. Baidoo did not simply take on a position; he embraced the responsibility of helping to shape the administrative and governance foundation of this University,” Ing. Kpetigo said.
He noted that Mr. Baidoo’s service strengthened institutional processes and supported both Council and Management in advancing the University’s strategic objectives.

As part of the evening’s celebrations, the University presented Mr. Baidoo with a refrigerator as a farewell gift. A citation highlighting his distinguished service and contributions to GCTU was also read and presented to him.

Additional presentations were made by the Directorate of General Administration and Operations, the Directorate of University Relations, the Centre for Strategic Business and Professional Development (CSBPD), as well as several individuals who expressed their appreciation for his leadership and mentorship.

The event was marked by moments of joy, reflection and solidarity. Guests were treated to music and entertainment, while the Council Chairman, Acting Vice-Chancellor and several Deans and Directors joined colleagues on the dance floor, creating an atmosphere of celebration and appreciation.
Mr. Baidoo was accompanied by his family, who witnessed the heartfelt tributes and expressions of gratitude from the University community.
