GCTU Empowers Students With WEB3 Innovation And Real-world Skills
The Industrial Liaison Department, in collaboration with AyaHQ and the Computer Science Department, has hosted a comprehensive four-day workshop on blockchain, dubbed “Hackathon and Web3,” from August 26 to 29, 2024.
The workshop aimed to equip students with hands-on experience in blockchain development, focusing on real-world applications and projects, aligning with the University’s core mandate.
The Founder and CEO of AyaHQ, Mr. Eric Annan, informed participants about the company’s dedication to unlocking human potential, empowering individuals to become value creators and driving innovation. “We are always ready to support passionate individuals committed to contributing to a global community of builders, offering mentorship and guidance every step of the way, from local to global impact,” he stated.
Mr. Annan shared his inspiring journey from humble beginnings in the Finance Department at Huawei, where he served top-tier clients like MTN and Vodafone (now Telecel), to becoming a trailblazing entrepreneur and Founder of AyaHQ.
Another Resource Person and a Software Engineer, Mr. Javells Appiah, shared his empowering story of leveraging a free Web 3 Bootcamp to transition into the blockchain space. He highlighted the vast financial opportunities in the industry, despite its complexity and encouraged students to take bold action to write their own blockchain code and start building innovative projects that will transform their future and unlock new possibilities.
The Chief Technology Officer at AyaHQ, Mr. Dennis Ukonu, delivered an insightful presentation covering essential topics such as blockchain fundamentals, Ethereum, EVM, smart contract deployment, and the process of becoming a builder on Aya Labs. His expertise provided students with a comprehensive understanding of the subject matter, equipping them with valuable knowledge and skills.
Earlier, in his remarks, the Head of the Computer Science Department, Dr. Emmanuel Freeman, commended the students for their participation. He stressed that the workshop was an opportunity to build their capacity and enhance the competence of both students and faculty in Web3 and blockchain technology.
The second phase of the event was an intensive three-day practical class, where students acquired hands-on experience and real-world skills in blockchain development. This experiential learning opportunity allowed them to apply theoretical knowledge in a tangible manner, effectively bridging the gap between concept and reality.
