The African Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS), in collaboration with the Business Students Association and the Entrepreneurship Club of GCTU, has held a career Fair on 17th and 18th July 2025, at the main campus, Tesano.

The two-day event, held under the theme “Think Smart! Build the Future!” was aimed at connecting students with potential employers, industry professionals and skill development opportunities to help shape their career paths and entrepreneurial ambitions.

Delivering the welcome address, the Dean of the GCTU Business School and Chairperson of the event, Prof. George Oppong Ampong, hinted at plans to institutionalize the career fair as an annual event to continuously expose students to the realities of the business world.

He urged students not to wait until after graduation before considering their career paths but rather to start strategic planning and skill-building while still in school, encouraging participants to leverage the presence of esteemed resource persons for mentorship and coaching.

Prof. Ampong concluded by emphasizing that the knowledge, experience and connections gained at the event should not end when the fair ends. “Let the networking continue,” he added.

A representative of the Africa Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS), Mr. Christopher Addo, highlighted that the organization’s ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between graduates and workplace demands by creating employment opportunities for graduates. He urged participants to take advantage of the opportunities around them and leverage technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to build successful careers.

Community Manager at BlueSPACE Africa Technologies, Mr. Paul Maen, encouraged participants to “think smart,” emphasizing that leveraging technology and AI is key to future success. “AI is the new future. If we leave it behind, we do so at our own expense,” he cautioned. Mr. Maen further noted that the world should not simply be seen as waiting for the future to come; rather, “we are the ones building the future.”

By connecting participants with industry professionals and highlighting the importance of technology and AI in shaping the future of work, the event reinforced the need for continuous learning, innovation, and proactive career planning.
