GCTU Business School Receives Renovation Boost In Pursuit Of Enhanced Student Experience
The GCTU Business School has witnessed significant renovation projects aimed at improving the overall learning environment for its students. The project involved the replacement of traditional glass windows with louvre blades to enhance ventilation and the installation of 25 air conditioners in the school’s lecture rooms.
Following an inspection of the completed works on Wednesday, July 5, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, expressed his delight at the quality and timely execution of the projects. The contractor, Mansatac Solutions Ltd, completed the window project under one month.
The VC emphasized the importance of creating a conducive learning environment for students, in alignment with the ‘Enhanced Student Experience’ declared by Management at the beginning of the year.
Prof. Afoakwa announced plans to provide the business school with 500 new tables and chairs. This initiative is set to further enhance the comfort and convenience for students while carrying out their academic activities.
“When all this is done, we hope that it will turn all the negatives at the Business School into positives,” Prof. added.
Recognizing the need to give the school’s premises a facelift, the VC commented on the need for a fresh coat of paint and the installation of new window curtains. He stated that “once our attention has been drawn here, we want to ensure that all the works are done”.
The renovation works, along with the proposed furniture upgrade and aesthetic improvements, will undoubtedly elevate the GCTU Business School’s reputation as a leading institution for IT Business education in Ghana.
Earlier, the Director of Works and Physical Development, Mr. Gordon Baapiri, hinted that other projects are at various stages of commencement including a staircase, partition of one of the lecture rooms and the fixing of the library’s leaking roof.
Some executives of the Business Students Association led by their president, Mr. Kevin Ologo, were present at the ceremony. The president spoke on behalf of the group, expressing his joy and appreciation for the attention being given to the school by Management. He added that the developments will greatly improve students’ lives in the school.
The ceremony was attended by Management members including the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Registrar and Director of Internal Audit. Also in attendance were some Directors and Deans including the Director of University Relations, the Dean of the Business School and Dean of Students.
The team moved from the Business School to the Main Campus where they inspected the ongoing refurbishment of the washroom at the CPD block. Work was about 70% done and estimated to be finished in a fortnight’s time
