
In a heartfelt tribute, Faculty members, fellow Lecturers and administrative staff gathered in Prof. George Kofi Amoako’s office to celebrate his 60th birthday, which fell on 29th July 2025.
The event, which was thoughtfully orchestrated by the dedicated staff of the Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC), was a surprise celebration to honour the remarkable achievements and enduring impact of their beloved Director on the University community.
Speaking at the event, the Acting Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Malcalm, noted that 60 years is just the beginning, and expressed confidence Prof. Amoako will continue to make valuable contributions to the University community. Prof. Malcalm reminisced about their collaboration. “Personally, I have benefited from his network, and we have co-authored some publications. I am sure you will be with us for a long time,” he remarked. Prof. Malcalm, on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, wished him a happy birthday.

In response, the birthday celebrant, Prof. Amoako, expressed heartfelt appreciation to his staff for their thoughtful gesture. He commended them for their support and emphasized that kindness, love, and respect are essential qualities for effective leadership. He also underscored the importance of cultivating collegial relationships with staff, rather than relying solely on positional authority.
Prof. Amoako extended his sincere gratitude to the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, and the University Management for their continued support since he joined the institution. He also acknowledged his Dean and Departmental colleagues for their encouragement, collaboration, and camaraderie.
Reflecting on his time at the University, Prof. Amoako shared that he had been warmly welcomed and had received valuable support from staff across various Departments, which had significantly contributed to his research work.
