The Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy (DRIC) at Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has successfully held a seminar on the theme, “The Anatomy of a Strong Academic Paper” on August 4, 2025, at the Tesano campus.
The seminar, which aimed to provide a step-by-step guide to the art of writing journal articles, also served as a platform for networking and collaboration in academic publishing.

In his opening remarks, Director of DRIC, Prof. George Amoako welcomed all participants and provided a brief overview of the seminar. He emphasized the timeliness and relevance of the topic, noting that the current academic climate demands a stronger focus on quality publications.

The facilitator for the seminar and an Associate Professor in Entrepreneurship and Innovation at the University of Birmingham, UK, Professor Samuel Adomako, shared insights from his academic work and experiences, guiding participants through “The Anatomy of a Strong Academic Paper.” The session covered the essential components of a paper: Introduction, Theory, Methods, Analysis and Results, and Discussion. He also detailed the steps required, including the dos and don’ts, to write a strong journal article that meets international publication standards for achieving higher academic milestones.

The second session featured manuscript presentations by groups of academic writers, followed by an interactive feedback segment, where both Prof. Adomako and participants offered constructive critiques to help refine and improve the draft manuscripts.

The seminar concluded with GCTU presenting a citation to Prof. Adomako in appreciation for his continuous mentorship, scholarly guidance and enduring impact on academic excellence within the University and beyond.
The seminar brought together participants from various universities and academic institutions.
