GNPC Awards 2 GCTU Students With Full Academic Scholarships
At a brief ceremony on Tuesday, 27th July 2021, the GCTU Management team was joined by a representative from GNPC to officially present 2 students of the University with full academic scholarship awards courtesy of the GNPC Foundation. The awardee, Ms. Sandra Aburam, a B.Sc. Management student, and Ms. Abigail Akoto, a B.Sc. Information Technology students represented GCTU’s first beneficiaries of the 2020 GNPC Foundation Local Scholarship.
The scholarship package comprises a bursary of Ghc6000.00 per year for 4 years starting in the 2020/2021 academic year and covers tuition, accommodation, living expenses, learning materials as well as Book Allowance, and Dissertation/Project Allowance. The GNPC scholarship is a full scholarship awarded to Ghanaian students that have gotten admission into Public Tertiary Institutions but need financial assistance.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Afoakwa shared his excitement at the award of the scholarships and encouraged the beneficiaries to ensure that they made the most of the invaluable opportunity they had been presented with. He also thanked GNPC, in particular Dr. K.K. Sarpong, for showing their commitment to the initiative, and communicated his hopeful expectation for the inclusion of the other 28 students presented for the scholarship.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Michael Owusu Akomeah, Dean of the Office of Student Affairs, also expressed his gratitude and advised the students to learn hard to enable maintain the standards required to sustain them on the scholarship. He promised continued support from his office to the students and urged them to showcase excellence as they now represent GCTU on the GNPC platform.
Also present at the event were the Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Isaac Abeku Blankson, the Director of University Relations, Dr. Nusrat-Jahan Abubakar, the Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Kennedy Oppong-Fosu, and Mr. Joseph Adane, Assistant Registrar from the Office of Student Affairs.
As a student-centered institution, the University will continue to engage with both public and private organizations to promote quality education delivery in Ghana and the West African sub-region.
