Aesthetically Transformed Administration Block Finally Taken Over
After an interim takeover period of six months, GCTU officially assumed full control of its main Administration Block’s cladding in a brief ceremony on August 2, 2023.
The project, executed by renowned contractor Wax Home Ghana Ltd, has left a lasting impression on the campus, greatly enhancing its aesthetics.
The interim takeover of the project occurred on January 25, 2023. At the time, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, expressed his utmost satisfaction and lauded the quality of work undertaken.
“The building is so beautiful, everyone can attest to that. It has changed the aesthetics of the campus greatly,” remarked the VC. “After going round and inspecting it, we are all very happy about it. We can see that it is a job well done,” he said.
Six months on, following the elapse of the defect liability period, the Vice-Chancellor still stands by his words and is confident in the long-lasting impact of the Administration Block’s transformation. “The quality of your work cannot be questioned. We are happy that you are leaving us with this very beautiful edifice, and it is going to be here for many, many years to come,” he reiterated.
Both the university through its Works and Physical Development Directorate and the contractor have worked tirelessly to ensure its successful completion.
The Vice-Chancellor presented Mr. Peter Fosu, representing Wax Home Ghana Ltd, with the certificate of completion of work. This certificate symbolizes the satisfactory execution of the project and relieves the contractor of further contractual obligations.
Mr. Fosu expressed his gratitude to the institution for entrusting them with this prestigious project. “We are thankful to the university for giving us the opportunity to serve,” he said. He also expressed hope for further collaborations with the university in the future.
The ceremony was graced by the university’s senior Management members including the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Prof. R. E. Hinson, Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, and Director of Internal Audit, Mr. Kennedy Oppong Fosu. Also in attendance were the Director of Works and Physical Development, Surv.
