VC, Receives Transformational Business Leadership Award for Visionary Impact on GCTU’s Future

Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa honored

The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, was honored with the prestigious “Transformational Business Leadership Personality of the Year” award in the Education Sector at the 3rd Governance and Business Leadership Awards 2023. 

The awards ceremony, which took place on Friday, August 4, at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel, celebrated Prof. Afoakwa’s visionary leadership and his commitment to transforming GCTU into the Silicon Valley of Ghana and the West African sub-region. 

In a heartfelt expression of gratitude and accomplishment, Prof. Afoakwa shared the news on his Facebook page, attributing the recognition to his bold vision for GCTU’s future. 

The esteemed award recognized his efforts in creating a National ICT Center of Excellence that would house world-class training facilities and infrastructure, leading technological innovations and growth in Ghana. 

He further acknowledged the unwavering support and guidance from the Governing Council, led by Prof. Kofi Awusabo-Asare, the Management Team, and the entire GCTU fraternity. 

Prof. Afoakwa emphasized that the journey towards achieving this ambitious vision is well on course, thanks to the belief and dedication of everyone involved. 

He writes with a note of excitement about the transformation that awaits GCTU, and declared his mission to create an institution that would nurture talent, innovation, and technological advancement in the nation. His ultimate goal is to establish GCTU as a world-class ICT training institution comparable to the renowned Silicon Valley. 

Prof. Afoakwa’s achievement serves as a rallying call for the entire GCTU community to unite and strive for recognition on the global stage. As he puts it, “God bless us all as we work hard towards the growth and development of our dear nation Ghana and make our nation great and strong.”
