    Dr. Cletus Kwaku Mbowura is a Senior Lecturer. He is the current Head of the Department of General Studies in the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems (FoCIS) in Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU). He holds a PhD and Mphil degrees in History, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in History with Philosophy – all from the University of Ghana.

    He has about two decades of experience as a lecturer in University of Ghana, Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Regent University College of Science and Technology, Accra College of Medicine, Accra College of Education, and Ghana Communication and Technology University (GCTU).

    Dr. Mbowura’s areas of research and interests are Conflicts and Peace Studies, Social History and Education. He has appreciable number of publications on conflicts, peacebuilding, education, security, among others, in peer reviewed journals and edited volumes.

    Dr. Lempogo actively participates in academic events, including conferences, seminars, and workshops within his research domain. Notable engagements include his role as a Session Moderator (Invited Special Session) at the 14th ITU Academic Conference, 2022 ITUKaleidoscope in Accra, Ghana, and as a Keynote Speaker at various conferences, including the 2019 ICSIoT International Conference of Cyber Security and Internet of Things and the 2019 ICCSPN International Conference on Communications, Signal Processing, and Networks, all held in Accra, Ghana.

    He is also a valued member of the Editorial Team for the International Conference on Education, Technology, and Innovation (ICETE) in 2019.

    Additionally, Dr. Lempogo serves as a reviewer for multiple scientific conferences and journals, including the 2018 IEEE International Conference on Adaptive Science and Technology (ICAST 2018). His active involvement not only keeps him abreast of the latest developments but also enriches our department's extensive academic network.

    Dr. Iddrisu earned a four-year Bachelor’s degree in Statistics and Mathematics from the University of Ghana in 2008, Master of Philosophy degree in Applied Mathematics from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 2012, and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Applied Statistics from the University for Development Studies in 2017.

    Dr. Iddrisu has been working as a University lecturer and consulting Statistician for the past 12 years. He has had the privilege of working in partnership with renowned researchers from many different discipline areas, providing statistical support and research guidance. He has co-authored more than 30 peer reviewed journal articles, where he has been the sole contributor of the statistical content.

    As a consulting Statistician, Dr. Iddrisu has provided critical review of analyses and reports and advised other researchers and statisticians on various projects. In the health sector for instance, Dr. Iddrisu was part of a team formed by the Ghana Academy of Arts and Sciences on behalf of the Ministry of Health to model the COVID-19 data in Ghana.

    In the energy sector, he has worked with the Water Resources Commission on the Akosombo Kpong Dams reoperation and reoptimization project. In the agricultural sector, he has provided consultancy services to the Centre for Dryland Agriculture (CDA) in Kano, Nigeria.

    In the mining sector, Dr. Iddrisu has worked on several research projects focused mainly on managing mineworker fatigue and improving the relationship between mining companies and the communities they operate within.

    GCTU’s Academic Affairs Directorate is managed by an experienced Quality Assurance specialist, Dr. Godwin Utuka. The Director who is an experienced educational administrator, has a thorough knowledge of university quality management systems with proven skills working with faculty, staff and students from diverse academic, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds.

    Dr. Utuka has worked in various educational institutions both locally and internationally. He has previously held the following positions: Assistant Registrar, UCC, Assistant Secretary, NAB, Administrator within the Office of the Pro VC, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand, and Director of Quality Assurance, UPSA

    He Holds a PhD with a specialty in quality assurance and higher education management from the Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand. He also has an M.Phil in Educational Administration from UCC.

    His PhD thesis was on ‘Quality Assurance in Higher Education: Comparative Analysis of Provisions and practices in New Zealand and Ghana’ and he has published extensively on the subject and has also attended international conferences on quality assurance and higher education management to both present and discuss papers.

    Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa is a Professor of Food Science and Technology and currently the Vice-Chancellor of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), Tesano-Accra and the Chief of Fiapre Traditional Area in the Bono Region of Ghana under the stool name Obrempong Professor Kyem-Amponsah II. He was formerly the Interim Vice-Chancellor of the Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU), President of the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC), Tesano-Accra; Acting President of the Ghana Technology University College (GTUC), Tesano-Accra, and Head of the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana, Legon-Accra.

    He attended St. Augustine’s College, Cape Coast where he obtained his GCE Ordinary Level and GCE Advanced Level Certificates in June 1989 and June 1991 respectively. He continued to pursue his undergraduate and postgraduate studies at the University of Ghana and graduated with B.Sc (Hons) and M.Phil degrees in Food Science, respectively in June 1996 and June 2000. He obtained his Ph.D. Degree in Food Science from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow, UK in November 2008.

    He also holds Certificates in International Food Laws and Regulations from the Michigan State University, East Lansing, Michigan, USA, and in Food Quality Management Systems (ISO 9,000 Standards) and Food Safety Management Systems (ISO 22,000 Standards) from the International Agricultural Centre, Wageningen University, The Netherlands. He is a trained and a Licensed Food Auditor by the World Food Safety Organization, UK.

    He was appointed as Lecturer in January 2002 at the Department of Nutrition and Food Science, University of Ghana and promoted to Senior Lecturer in June 2005. Due to his outstanding scholarship, grantsmanship and promotion of internationalization at the University, he was promoted to Associate Professor in April 2009 and then to Professor in March 2014. He is a Fellow of the African Scientific Institute (ASI) and member of several professional bodies including the Ghana Science Association (GSA), African Society of Food Science and Technology (ASoFoST), Institute of Food Technologists (IFT) and the American Chemical Society (ACS).

    He is a distinguished scholar and has authored/co-authored 207 publications (including 105 peer-reviewed journal publications, 5 books, 4 book chapters, 2 encyclopaedia chapters and 91 conferences presentations with published abstracts) in Food Science and Technology, Food and Nutrition Security, and School Feeding Programmes. He is an international expert in Cocoa and Chocolate Processing Technology and has authored two world reference books in the cocoa and chocolate industry entitled Cocoa Production and Processing Technology and Chocolate Science and Technology. In the pursuance of his duties as a Food Technologist, he has travelled to thirty-eight (38) countries across the globe where he has gained high international recognition in his work.

    Prof. Afoakwa is an international cocoa and chocolate scholar par excellence and has for many years served on several boards and committees of many national and international organizations/institutions including the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), European Union, African Union, African Regional Organization for Standardization (ARSO), University of Ghana, Ghana Technology University College, Ghana Communication Technology University, Ghana Cocoa Board, Ghana Standards Authority and many others.

    He was an Astute University Assessor at the University of Ghana, and served as a Member of Appointment and Promotions Board of the College of Health Sciences, Korle-Bu, and the College of Education, all of the University of Ghana from August 2015 to October 2018. He was a Member of the University of Ghana Library Board, Member of the University of Ghana Intellectual Property Committee, as well as several others. Currently, he is the Chairman of the National Working Group on Cocoa and Cocoa Products, and Chairman of the National Codex sub-Committee on Food Additives at the Ghana Standards Authority.

    He is a Consultant to the EU on Cocoa Affairs and Member of the International Expert Group on Sustainable and Traceable Cocoa established by the European Commission to set international standards for sustainability and traceability of cocoa. He was a Member of Board of Directors of the Global Child Nutrition Foundation in Washington, USA from January 2007 to December 2019.

    He is currently the President of the African Society of Food Science and Technology (ASoFOST). He has held several national and international positions including the Executive Secretary for the African Network for School Feeding Programmes (ANSFEP); the Honorary Secretary for Society on Information Technology for the Advancement of Nutrition in Africa (ITANA) and the General Secretary to the Ghana Institute of Food Science and Technology (GIFoST).

    He is a Technical Advisor in Food Science and Technology to the International Foundation for Science (IFS-Sweden), Consultant Science Skills Trainer to the African Women in Agricultural Research and Development (AWARD-Kenya), Consultant Grant Assessor to the Regional Universities Forum for Capacity Building in Agriculture (RUFORUM - Uganda). He has served as Consultant to many national and international organizations and projects including the World Health Organization (WHO), Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Ghana School Feeding Programme, German Development Cooperation (GIZ), USAID, CARI, TechnoServe, and many others.

    He is an External Examiner and Promotion Assessor for many national and international tertiary institutions including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana), University of Cape Coast (Ghana), Cape Coast Technical University (Ghana), Edith Cowan University, (Australia), University of Ibadan (Nigeria), University of Lesotho (Lesotho), University of Mauritius (Mauritius) and the University of Pretoria, Pretoria (South Africa). He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Food Technology Research and also serves as Member of Editorial Boards of several International Journals including the Nutrition and Food Science Journal (Elsevier), African Journal of Food, Agriculture, Nutrition and Development (AJFAND), Journal of Food Science and Nutrition, and many others.

    As well, he is a Scientific Reviewer for several national and international high impact factor peer reviewed journals. He has vast experience in Food Science and Technology, and translates his research findings through process engineering and product development into industrial production towards the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) mainly on food and nutrition security, poverty reduction and sustainable agricultural development.

    He is happily married to Ellen (Executive Director and Managing Principal in Charge of Corporate and Investment Banking – ABSA Bank Ghana Limited (Formerly Barclays Bank) and they are blessed with three children, Nana Afra, Maame Agyeiwaa and Kwabena Ohene-Afoakwa (Jnr.).

    Prof. George Oppong Appiagyei Ampong is the Dean of the GCTU Business School. Prof. Ampong holds qualifications of PG Cert in International Higher Education Academic Practice from Coventry University in 2017, Ph.D. in Business Administration in 2013 from the Business University of Costa Rica, MSc in Health Services Planning & Management from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology in 1999 and a BA (Hons) in Philosophy & Religion from the University of Ghana in 1996. He has an 11-year teaching career in management courses including Marketing Management, Human Resource Management, Entrepreneurship, Strategic Management, Public Administration, Business Administration and Corporate Governance. He was also the Director of the Kumasi Campus of the GCTU from 2014 to 2015. He is an enterprising person and facilitator in entrepreneurship development and SME quality improvement and management services in developing countries. He has 26 years’ experience in managing non-profit and voluntary organisations, organisational development and administration, 12 years in private enterprises and organization and 5 years in public service. Before joining academia, he held leadership and managerial positions as Chief Executive Officer, Head of Administration and Finance and Programme Manager over the years. He is also a founding Director and CEO of the Ghana Section of Defence for Children International. Prof. Ampong has managed donor-funded projects of the World Bank, African Development Foundation, International Development Research Center, USAID, Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs and UNICEF. He has also participated in several local and international workshops and conferences on education, business, technology, microfinance, entrepreneurship, and human rights.

    Additionally, Prof. George Oppong Appiagyei Ampong has more than 20-years of professional experience in training and support for peer education, managing programmes focused on business and skill development and training, gender equality and child protection as well as stakeholder networking.

    Prof. Ampong is a representative for Ghana Communication Technology University in the African-German Entrepreneurship Academy (AGEA) and the African Centre for Career Enhancement and Skills Support (ACCESS) Networks, convened by the KNUST. He initiated the Entrepreneurship Hub at the Business School in GCTU responsible for entrepreneurship development including capacity building, business incubation and mentorship for business start-ups within the University community.

    He is also team-lead for GCTU in the Ghana Innovation Hub, (2.1-million-dollar e-transform project) of the Ministry of Communication with support of the World Bank, in consortium with MDF-West Africa and BlueSpace Africa. He has expertise in entrepreneurship and project development, implementation, monitoring & supervision, and capacity building with experience in managing a program for business improvement and financing for private health facilities in Ghana with support from the Medical Credit Fund, Africa

    Besides teaching and research, Prof. George Oppong Appiagyei Ampong has rendered service to the University, and the National and International Community in various capacities.

    Mrs. Victoria Amoah is with the Internal Audit Directorate of the Ghana Communication Technology University. She has over twenty years of work experience, having worked in diverse capacities where she applies her extensive expertise to ensure financial integrity and compliance. Her role in conducting risk-based audits and ensuring effective internal controls to enhance the financial operations of the University.

    Prior to the University attaining a public status, Mrs. Amoah was the Head of the Internal Audit Unit from the year 2010 - 2021, a position she discharged with high level of professionalism and expertise. She is an outstanding and a remarkable team player who always aspires to accomplish all tasks within a stipulated time.

    Further, she is a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors (IIAG) both local and global and also a member of Certified Information System Auditor (CISA) both local and global.

    Mrs. Amoah is a Council Member of the Ghana Communication Technology University, Non-Professorial Rank who have served on two consecutive terms of Convocation from 2020 to date. She has also served on various committees of the University as well as Council Sub -Committee on Development and has attended several professional trainings for capacity building.
