KUMASI CAMPUS HOLDS 7TH MATRICULATION
The Kumasi Campus of GTUC has held its 7th Matriculation Ceremony for students who were admitted for the 2017/2018 Academic Year. The ceremony was held to formally admit one hundred and thirty-two (132) new students to pursue various undergraduate programmes at the Faculties of Engineering, Computing and Information Systems and IT Business.
In his welcome address, Head of Academics, Kumasi Campus, Mr. Emmanuel Hasford, congratulated matriculants for gaining admission into the University College. He advised the fresh students to take their studies seriously and know that this is the first step towards achieving higher education. Mr. Hasford also encouraged them to get involved in extracurricular activities on campus to enhance their GTUC experience.
In a speech read on behalf of the Vice President of GTUC, Dr. Ebenezer Malcalm, Dean, Graduate School said that GTUC is a place where talents can be discovered and harnessed to their full potential. He stated that matriculation is a step forward to announce ones readiness to accept the challenges that come with the pursuit of knowledge and it also presents the rights, privileges, and responsibilities of studentship in the University. He urged students to take charge of their education to shape their future and destiny here at GTUC.
Dr. Malcalm added that GTUC seeks to empower students to continue the search for knowledge through constant learning and innovation. “On behalf of the entire University College, I pledge that we will do everything possible to ensure that you develop your talents and interests to their fullest while you are here,” he said. The Ag. Director, Kumasi Campus, Mr. Yaw Ofori-Amanfo, administered the matriculation oath to the students who were present and welcomed them as part of the GTUC family. He congratulated them on this achievement and wished them a wonderful and fulfilling learning experience.
Speaking on behalf the Matriculants, Miss. Sandra Afoley Laryea, BBA Level 100, commended GTUC for their achievement in running industry-relevant programmes that had given them the opportunity to pursue their careers. She used the occasion to advise her colleagues to obey all rules and regulations to enable the university over them the kind of training they deserve.
Also in attendance, were Heads of Department and Units, members of staff and faculty, and other invited guests
