The Centre for Strategic Business and Professional Development (CSBPD) of GCTU on Friday, October 30, 2026, organised an orientation programme for fresh students pursuing the Level 3 Professional Diploma in Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the University’s main campus in Tesano, Accra.
The orientation was aimed at familiarising the students with the programme’s structure, academic requirements and opportunities, while introducing them to some of the University’s facilities and resources.
The programme, which is in partnership with City & Guilds UK, awards successful students with a UK Graduate Diploma, which offers a pathway to further academic progression at GCTU. The qualification enables eligible students to gain admission to Level 200 of the University’s Computer Science and Engineering programmes.
It is particularly designed for students who did not meet the required cut-off points or grades for direct admission but wish to pursue university education.

Addressing the students, the Director of CSBPD, Dr. Vera Graham Asante, emphasised that the programme provides an opportunity to acquire an internationally recognised qualification that can enhance their career prospects.
She urged the students to seek clarification from their lecturers whenever necessary to ensure a proper understanding of the courses, stressing the importance of attending all scheduled lectures and laboratory sessions.
Dr. Asante noted that regular attendance and active participation were essential to students’ academic success and the responsible use of university resources, adding that ” they must satisfy all academic requirements before they could be awarded their certificates.”

The Programme Coordinator at GCTU’s Professional Development Unit, Mr. Louis Akorli, also urged students to maintain at least 85 per cent class attendance to qualify for examinations, stressing that absenteeism would not be tolerated.
He explained that the curriculum comprises seven papers grouped into three assessment categories: written examinations, online Computer-Based Tests (CBT) and practical sessions.
Mr. Akorli further disclosed that the programme had been restructured into a two-semester format to reduce students’ workload and improve their chances of completing the programme.
