
The GCTU Business School, in collaboration with Winada International, has organized a free Career and Entrepreneurship Workshop for students on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Abeka Campus. The workshop aimed to provide participants with valuable insights into career growth, entrepreneurship, mentorship opportunities and professional development for their future excellence.

Delivering her address as the Guest Speaker, the Executive Director and Consultant of The Gas Consortium, Ms. Esi Ribeiro, spoke on the topic, “Building a Career That Matters.” She encouraged participants to build careers anchored on strong character, noting that while hard skills may secure a job, soft skills sustain career success. She also urged them to build a strong personal brand and view failure as an opportunity to learn, grow and become more resilient.

Speaking on the topic, “Employable Skills, Character and Ethics,” the Head of Branch Control at ADB PLC, Mr. Edmund Fred Nii Osae Sackey, emphasized the importance of emotional intelligence, workplace character, professional ethics and effective teamwork in building successful careers.
He encouraged participants to develop both hard and soft skills, stressing that self-confidence is a key ingredient for success and job readiness. Mr. Sackey highlighted emotional intelligence, effective communication and collaboration, complex problem-solving and critical thinking, as well as adaptability and resilience as essential employable skills for today’s workplace. He urged participants to remain confident, uphold strong values and continuously invest in their personal and professional development.

Opening the workshop earlier, the Advisory Partner at Makers and Partners, Rev. Wilfred Neneh Addico, delivered a presentation on the topic, “From Campus to Workplace.” He emphasized the importance of good character, professionalism and a positive attitude as essential qualities for a successful transition from academia to the workplace, urging participants to cultivate values that would distinguish them throughout their careers.
In another development, the Assistant Audit Manager at Resolute Consult and Chartered Accountant, Mr. Lord Logo Stephen, encouraged participants to take charge of their career development by building strong professional networks. He urged them to join professional associations, attend seminars and industry events and actively create opportunities for growth, emphasizing that a strong network is a valuable asset for career success. He further encouraged participants not to wait for opportunities, but to take proactive steps to shape their future from now.

The final Speaker, who is a Consultant and Chairman of the Audit Committee, National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), Ghana, DSP Daniel Opare, shared valuable lessons from his professional journey, emphasizing the importance of integrity, reputation and innovation in achieving career success. He encouraged participants to think globally, build meaningful relationships and work collaboratively to bridge institutional gaps and enhance productivity. He further urged them to take ownership of their future by embracing opportunities that contribute to personal and organizational growth.
The workshop featured case studies, real-life scenarios, practical experiences and interactive question-and-answer sessions, providing participants with deeper insights into career development, entrepreneurship and workplace success.
