Minister Visits TRIC

The Deputy Minister, Ministry of Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation (MESTI), Dr. Musheibu Mohammed-Alfa paid a visit to GTUC’s Technology Research and Innovation Centre (TRIC).

The visit was to create the platform to discuss a range of issues which includes TRIC’ growth and further strategies by which the relationship between TRIC, MESTI and the Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (COTVET) will be enhanced with emphasis on technology, business and strategic projects.

The Deputy Minister was accompanied by the Director for Science, Technology and Innovation at the Ministry and three other members of the Ministry.
President of GTUC, Dr. Osei K. Darkwa, welcomed the delegation and commended them for their support to GTUC. He said GTUC has performed tremendously well over the past few years and will remain committed to partnerships such as the one that exists between GTUC and MESTI for successful implementation of the projects.

He further stated that GTUC has remained focused on the delivery of quality technology education and will not relent on its efforts to achieve more.
The Head of the Office of Research Services and Innovation (ORSI), Mrs. Abena Anyidoho took the delegation through a presentation on the various projects being undertaken by the Centre.

The delegation after several discussions, toured various facilities on campus to acquaint themselves with the area including the TRIC Office and the newly acquired Nissan Navara Pick Up vehicle for the Centre.

The Deputy Minister, who was highly impressed by the achievements made on the TRIC and Solar projects, commended the University and the managers of the projects for a good job done. He assured GTUC of the Ministry’s commitment to support the various projects and encouraged all stakeholders to work hard to develop research in Ghana.
