Abigail Tagoe Emerges ‘Best Female Contestant’ at TBSC Version 5.0

A Level 300 Accounting with Computing student at the GCTU Business School, Ms. Abigail Tagoe, has emerged as the “Best Female Contestant” at the prestigious Tertiary Business Sense Challenge Version 5.0 held at TV3, Kanda, Accra.

The three month-long event which was organized by the Graphic Business, a subsidiary of the Graphic Communications Group Ltd (GCGL), climaxed on September 1, 2023.

The competition, operating under the theme “Preparation ahead of Opportunity: Business as a way of life,” aimed at fostering business acumen and entrepreneurial skills among participating students.

The TBSC, an annual event, is a crucial initiative designed to nurture a profound understanding of business and economic issues within the student community, thereby laying a solid foundation for future careers in the business world. In the 5th edition of this event, which was officially launched on June 29, 2023, GCTU’s Business School Team, consisting of 11 students at various academic levels, competed against 16 other universities.

While the GCTU team did not reach the finals of the competition, they achieved recognition for their commendable performance in the semi-final stage, securing the second position behind the University of Cape Coast. The team’s journey culminated in the honour of Ms. Abigail Tagoe being named the “Best Female Contestant.”

The achievement was a result of the diligent efforts and contributions of her team members, which included David Lamptey (Level 300, Banking and Finance), Ransford Sampene (Level 400, Procurement and Logistics), Tipoabor Kofi Justice (Level 300, Management), Roselyn Adiabo (Level 300, Procurement and Logistics), and Hayford Narkotey (Level 300, Accounting). The others were Louisa Afriyie (Level 300, Accounting with Computing), Gloria Nyaletey (Level 200), Gyampo Abraham (Level 200, Accounting), Hafsatu Quartey (Level 400, Accounting), and Alex Hutor (Level 300, Management).

The remarkable success of the team owes much to the dedicated coaching staff who guided, inspired, and mentored the contestants. The coaching team comprised Mr. Peter Lawer Angmor, a Senior Lecturer from the Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance; Mr. Derrick Ofori Donkor, a Lecturer in the Department of Economics; Mr. Yoni De-Galle, a Teaching Assistant at the Business School, and Mr. Edwin Thasun, a Level 400 student majoring in Economics.
