Candidates for Non-professorial Representation on GCTU Governing Council Ballot for Election

The three candidates nominated for non-professorial representation on the GCTU Council have balloted for positions on the ballot paper on September 9, 2025, at the Eva Von Hirsch Auditorium.

The event was organized by three scrutineers nominated to assist the Registrar in ensuring a free, fair and transparent election of Convocation representatives to the Council and Academic Board. This followed a Convocation meeting held on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at the Florence Onny Auditorium. The nominated scrutineers were Dr. Afia Nyarko Boakye, Mr. Philip Larry Anguah and Dr. Samuel Afoakwa.

In an exclusive interview with Dr. Afia Nyarko Boakye, she emphasized that the nomination period was opened on August 21, 2025, and closed on September 4, 2025. She confirmed that all documents had been thoroughly vetted.

Dr. Nyarko Boakye further added that campaigns are officially open until midnight on September 23, 2025, and voting will take place online on Wednesday, September 24, 2025. Dr. Nyarko Boakye reminded candidates to maintain decorum and avoid personal attacks. She indicated that candidates are satisfied with the process so far.

The candidates and their representatives pledged to conduct decent campaigns to ensure a peaceful election session.
In another development, the candidate for Professorial Representative, Prof. Iddrisu Wahab Abdul, went unopposed. Similarly, candidates for the Academic Board, comprising both faculty and administrative positions, also went unopposed. They include Dr. Luki Nammei Bayuasi (Teaching), Mr. Dzordzoe Woelorm Koffie-Ocloo (Teaching), Mrs. Nana Aba Ledger (Non-Teaching), and Mr. Isaac Kwadwo Yeboah (Non-Teaching).
