University Of Johannesburg (UJ) Team Visits GCTU
The Director of the School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems at the University of Johannesburg, Professor Stella Bvuma, has led a team of three female scholars to visit the Ghana Communication Technology University from Monday 12th August 2024 to Thursday 15th August 2024.
The University of Johannesburg team would be at GCTU from today, August 12 – 19, 2024 to engage in various meetings with the University Management and faculty, deliver lectures and engage in selected media engagements.
The other members of the team are a former Director of the School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems, Professor Mercy Mpinganjira, and the Head of the Department of Marketing Management at the University of Johannesburg, Dr Isolde Ward-Lubbe.
In a brief meeting, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa, welcomed the team and shared the University strategic plan with the University of Johannesburg delegation as a basis for research collaborations between the two Universities.
Professor Stella Bvuma has a driven robust passion in ICT4 Development and ICT adoption with a focus towards township and rural development. Currently she is engaged in research focusing on ICT adoption by township SMMEs in South Africa. She is also a member of the Council of the South African Institute of Computer Scientists and Information Technologists (SAICSIT).
Professor Mercy Mpinganjira is a full professor at the Department of Marketing Management. She held the Director position at the School of Consumer Intelligence and Information Systems at the University of Johannesburg from 2017 – 2023. The School is home to three departments and two centres. Prof Mpinganjira holds a PhD (Management), an MBA and a Graduate Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Newcastle, Australia as well as a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Malawi. Her research interests are in the areas of consumer behaviour and digital marketing. She is the author of several books and book chapters and has published over 60 journal articles in peer-reviewed journals including the Journal of Research in Interactive Marketing Journal of Business Research, European Business Review, Information & Management, Service Business, etc.
Dr Isolde Ward is the Head of the Department of Marketing at the University of Johannesburg. She is an experienced marketer, with professional services marketing, financial services marketing as well as research, teaching and learning experience in marketing. She lived and worked in London (United Kingdom) for seven years, before returning to South Africa. She is a professional, who is passionate about people, their success and growth and the role marketing can play in this journey.
