GCTU Signs MoU With Ghana Post Company Limited
The Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) and Ghana Post Company Limited (GPCL) have signed an MoU on Tuesday, 21st November, 2023 at the VC’s Board Room.
The MoU is a move to increase the sale of admission forms, provide more access to prospective students to purchase forms and to help increase student enrollment numbers for GCTU.
In his welcome remarks, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa gave a brief background of GCTU and indicated that GCTU is now a fully-fledged public university mandated to offer ICT training. He expressed the University’s excitement to partner with GPCL especially where the company has presence in all the regional capitals of Ghana. Prof. Afoakwa said, “On the side of the University, I must say, we are very, very excited to be given this opportunity to work together with you on the sale of our forms.”
The Vice-Chancellor noted that the University’s ICT-based programmes on offer are demand-driven and since the programmes are attracting more prospective students, there was the need to extend the University’s tentacles by making admissions forms available in all parts of the country.
“We are running quite a number of ICT based programmes that you can’t get in any University in Ghana,” he added. Prof. Afoakwa hinted that plans are far advanced to start an online distance education programme in the GCTU Learning Centres, which he believed that the agreement would promote its success.
The Regional Director of GPCL Accra West, Mr. Abochi Abraham, expressed his company’s readiness in rendering quality service to GCTU. He said, “We can also assure you that with Ghana Post, we have about 360 branches across the country and every post office is networked.” Mr. Abochi expressed his profound gratitude to GCTU, citing the new partnership as the foundation for future collaborations.
