THE GAS CHALLENGE 2019 Kicks Off

GTUC is participating in the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) challenge that was launched on Tuesday, 21st May 2019. “The Gas Challenge” is  an inter tertiary quiz competition that seeks to educate the general public on the domestic use of gas, the economic opportunities along the gas value chain, health and safety matters related to the use of gas.

The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Gas Company Dr. Ben Asante emphasized his desire to provide a platform for the study of gas and its related matters and also revealed that the quiz competition is going to be in two segments: “The stakeholder’s edition” and “The tertiary edition”. Taking care of the media, civil society organizations in the oil and gas industry and regulators is in the first edition, with the second edition looking at tertiary institutions who teach petroleum related courses, Ghana Technology University College happens to be one of the Tertiary Institutions nominated to participate in the Challenge.

The competition has been put into 3 different zones. University of Ghana and Ghana Regional Maritime University will contest with Ghana Technology University College on 8th October, 2019 and the winner will progress to the next stage in the competition. The Grand Finale will be held on 30th October, 2019 at the University of Ghana Cedi Hall, Legon.

The various teams in the competition will be identified by different colors and themes. GTUC will be identified by the color WINE/METHANE

 

Ghana Gas Challenge Takes off

Contestants would be given internship opportunities, among other educative tools like laptops, tablets, plagues, citations, souvenirs, crystal trophy, cash price and certificate of participation for the winners of the tertiary edition whiles the stakeholder’s participants would be rewarded with a training program to help build their capacity as well as other prizes as part of the package.

Managing Director of the Graphic Communications Group LTD, Mr Ato Afful at the launch of the competition said the Tertiary Business Sense Challenge was one of the off page experiences created by the company to ensure that the paper fully engages with its audience.
