A Four-Member delegation from the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has inspected three projects on the main campus of GCTU sponsored by the Fund, to ascertain the progress of work, on Friday, August 28, 2026.
The projects visited were the yet-to-be-completed six-storey lecture hall and office complex, the completed vertical extension of the GCTU School of Graduate Studies and Research (SGSR) and the Centre for Innovation, Technology Skills and Entrepreneurship Training (CITSET).
In her remarks, a member of the Board of Trustees of the Fund, Mrs. Lydia Essuah, indicated that the Fund’s Management is undertaking visits to project sites sponsored by the Fund. She stressed that the initiative was to ensure that funds are used judiciously for the purposes for which they were given and to ensure proper accountability and transparency.
She assured that GETFund would ensure timely payments for these projects, stressing that the visit was also to ascertain first-hand information on some of the challenges beneficiaries of the Fund are facing in executing the projects.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor of GCTU, Prof. Ebenezer Malcam, who received the delegation, expressed gratitude to the Management of the Fund for its support to the University, stressing that the six-storey lecture hall and office complex, although not completed yet, have been useful for both teaching and learning.
He said the University is committed to infrastructure development to enhance its academic excellence and pleaded with the Fund to facilitate payment for the projects.
Prof. Malcam indicated that the six-storey lecture hall and office complex was 95 per cent complete, adding that management would appreciate the successful completion of the entire project on time.
The Council Chairman of GCTU, Ing. Divine D. K. Kpetigo, expressed concern about the delay in payment for the projects, stressing that the University had funded significant portions of these projects, which GETFund is yet to reimburse.
He pleaded with the Fund to support the University with some buses to enhance its operations, as well as assist GCTU with the construction of a lecture theatre facility, which would include offices for lecturers.
The four-member delegation comprised of Mrs. Lydia Essuah and Prof. Ernest Kofi Davis, both members of the Board of Trustees of the Fund. The others were Mr. Kanschet Danquah and Mr. Emmanuel Dose, both staff of GETFund.
