Huawei Ghana Creates Career Paths for GCTU Students

The Career Development Unit of the Office of the Dean of Students, in collaboration with Huawei Ghana, has organized its annual Campus Recruitment Programme for Engineering and ICT Students from 7th to 8th July 2026 at the auditorium of the University’s new eight-storey complex.

The program which forms part of Huawei Ghana talent development initiative, aimed to connect excellent ICT students with industry through National service placements and potential long-term employment opportunities. As part of the exercise, participating students completed aptitude tests, after which the shortlisted candidates proceeded to interviews.

Delivering the keynote address on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty Officer, Ms. Nana Aba Ledger encouraged students to remain curious, embrace innovation and make the most of the opportunities available to them. She urged them to continually develop their skills and ideas regardless of the career path they choose.

In her opening remarks, the Dean of Student Affairs, Prof. Emelia Amoako Asiedu, encouraged students to actively participate in the programme, stressing that strong performance could earn them National Service placements and ultimately, employment opportunities with Huawei Ghana.

Speaking on behalf of the Dean of the Faculty of Computing and Information Systems (FoCIS), the Faculty Officer, Ms. Magdalene Lamptey, underscored the importance of aptitude tests as a tool for identifying strengths, addressing skill gaps and preparing students for the job market. She encouraged participants to approach the assessment with seriousness, commitment and confidence.

The Local/Deputy HR Director of Huawei Ghana, Mr. Festus Etsey Kwaku Badu, welcomed participants and encouraged them to engage fully throughout the seminar, pay close attention to the presentations and actively participate in the interactive sessions.

The Seminar featured presentations by Huawei professionals on the company’s operations, emerging technology trends, including Artificial Intelligence, Career Opportunities, Professional Certification Programmes and Industry Expectations. Students also received practical guidance on CV writing, interview preparation and career development.

A highlight of the seminar was an inspiring presentation by a GCTU alumnus and Huawei Product Solution Manager, Mr. Manasseh Nana Kweku Attuah, who shared his career journey from National Service to full-time employment, encouraging students to continuously invest in their skills and knowledge.
