The Academic Board of Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) has elected new representatives to serve on various Council and Academic Board sub-committees at an emergency meeting held on Friday, April 24, 2026.
The elections were conducted in accordance with the University’s Statutes, following the expiration of the tenure of previous representatives. Voting was done through a secret ballot system supervised by the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo, with support from appointed scrutineers to ensure transparency and credibility.
The meeting also featured the swearing-in of newly-appointed Heads of Department as members of the Academic Board.
Elected Representatives to Council Sub-Committees
At the conclusion of the process, the following members were elected to represent the Academic Board on Council sub-committees:
- Finance Committee:
Dr. Samuel Kingsford Seglah and Dr. Ruhiya Abubakar - Development Committee:
Dr. Godwin Utuka and Dr. Forgor Lempogo - University Appointments and Promotions Committee (UAPC):
Professorial Representatives:
Professor Frank Gyimah Sackey and Professor Emelia Amoako Asiedu
Senior Administrative Representatives:

Swearing-in of Heads of Department
Prior to the elections, the Academic Board formally inducted newly-appointed Heads of Department, who took the oath of office and assumed their roles as members of the Board. Those sworn in were:
- Dr. Gertrude Amoakohene – Acting Head, Department of Accounting, Banking and Finance
- Dr. Ethel Annor Tenkorang – Acting Head, Department of Management Studies
- Dr. Derrick Akude – Head, Department of Marketing

The Acting Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Ebenezer Malcalm, commended members for their active participation and reaffirmed the importance of the committees in supporting the University Council and Academic Board in decision-making and policy implementation.
He noted that the newly-elected representatives are expected to contribute significantly to institutional governance, quality assurance, staff development and overall strategic growth of the University.
