QUALITY ASSURANCE TRAINING

GTUC Support Staff play a very vital role in the attainment and maintenance of quality. In view of this, the Quality Promotions and Assurance Unit (QPAU) in consultation with the Human Resource Department (HRD) organized a two day training program for Administrative Assistants under the theme, ‘Enhancing the Skills of Service Quality Providers at GTUC’. The training was on 29th and 30th July, 2014, and a repeat Session was organized on 5th and 6th August, 2014. About forty (40) GTUC Admin Officers/ Assistants were trained.

The main topics discussed were ‘Effective Communication Skills’, facilitated by Ms. Afua Amankwah Sarkodie (Head, University Relations) and ‘Essentials of Office Management’ facilitated by Mrs. Juliana Owusu Ansah (Registrar, Graduate School).
The rationale for this training was to stimulate staff on continuous improvement in their respective roles. Participants were also encouraged to support the Quality Agenda at GTUC. This implies that quality assurance is not only about establishing set criteria against which to judge quality or find out the extent to which the service met those specifications, but is also about ensuring that there are systems in place to guarantee that the desired quality will be achieved.
The QPAU is grateful to our facilitators for sharing their knowledge with us and also, Mr. Emmanuel Adjepong, (Head, HRD) for their support.
