GHANA COMMUNICATION TECHNOLOGY UNIVERSITY

2026/2027 UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS (SEPTEMBER 2026 ADMISSIONS)

Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) is a public University established by the Ghana Communication Technology University Act, 2020 (Act 1022).

It is announced for the information of prospective applicants and the general public that applications are invited for the study of Degree and Diploma programmes for the 2026/2027 Academic Year.

Entry Requirements for Degree Programmes

  1. WASSCE/SSSCE – At least credit passes (WASSCE: C6 or better, SSSCE: D or better) in six (6) subjects comprising three core subjects including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science/Social Studies, and any three elective subjects which are relevant to the applicant's area of study.
  2. 'O' Level / 'A' Level – Credits in at least five (5) subjects at the GCE 'O' Level (or its equivalent) including English Language and Mathematics, plus at least three (3) credit passes in the relevant subjects at the Advanced Level.
  3. GBCE – Credit passes in Business Mathematics, English Language, and Integrated Science and three (3) elective subjects.
  4. Department's specific requirements shall apply.

Other Certifications for Degree Programmes

  1. Stage 1 of ACCA, ICA, Associates of Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM) with five (5) credits at GBCE or GCE 'O' Level including English Language and Mathematics.
  2. American Grade 12.
  3. City & Guilds Technician Diploma / Advanced Diploma in relevant area of study.
  4. International Baccalaureate (IB) / Diploma holders without English Proficiency will go through a compulsory three (3) months English Proficiency class before starting their programme. They should also submit both the original and translated versions of their results slips. Students with English proficiency are to submit the proficiency certificate for admission.

Entry Requirements for Top-Up Programmes

  1. HND holders shall be required to obtain an evaluation certificate from GTEC.
  2. HND or Equivalent Diploma relevant to the programme of study from a recognized Institution will be placed in either Level 200 or Level 300 accordingly.
  3. GCTU Diploma in the relevant specialization.
  4. Verifiable TERTIARY HIGHER Diploma relevant to the programme of study from accredited tertiary institutions. This will be assessed on an individual basis and the student will be placed in either Level 200 or Level 300 accordingly.

Entry Requirements for Diploma Programmes

SSSCE Holders

  • Six (6) Passes (A–D) in all subjects, including English Language and Mathematics.
  • For areas of specialization, three (3) of the Passes must be relevant subjects.

WASSCE Holders

  • Six (6) Passes (A1–D7) in all subjects, three (3) of which should be credit Passes (C6) or better.
  • It must be noted, however, that certain courses may require credit passes (C6) or better in other relevant courses.
  • Department's specific requirements shall apply.

Entry Requirements for Mature Applicants

  • At least 25 years old at the time of application, with proof of age provided through a birth certificate or any other legitimate documentary evidence.
  • At least 5 years' working experience in the relevant discipline.
  • Proof of Credit Pass in English Language and Core Mathematics in WASSCE OR any other nationally recognized high-school level examination (for applicants from countries outside the WAEC system).

How to Apply

  1. Applicants may apply online by visiting the University's website at apply.gctu.edu.gh. Payment for the application voucher can be made via Mobile Money (MoMo), after which the completed form is submitted online.
  2. Alternatively, applicants can purchase a GCTU undergraduate application voucher at a cost of GH₵250.00 at any branch of CBG Bank or Ghana Post nationwide. An application voucher will be issued, which can then be used to complete the online application at apply.gctu.edu.gh.
