About us
The GCTU Guidance and Counseling Unit, is a unit under the office of the Dean of Student Affairs, our services deal effectively with all academic related issues and other abuse, mental health problems and many other family crises. Our primary focus is on students and staff; therefore, we make every effort to include all members in the university community in our treatment.
The guidance and counseling unit provides students and staff of Ghana Communication Technology University with the opportunity to receive support from trained professional counsellors about their personal, educational and career goals. The counsellors at the unit help student’s deals with academic problems, relationships, career choices and general adjustments in their day to day living on campus.
The counsellors at the unit deals with emotional and psychological issues such as depression, anxiety disorder, substance abuse, rape, suicidal ideation, learning problems, relationship problems, eating disorders, stress management and anger management. All these professionals collaborate in the discharge of their duties at the unit to give students and staff the best of professional care.
The professional activities at the unit are carried out with strict adherence to the ethical standard regulating counselling and psychological care in Ghana.
