
The Governing Council of GCTU, led by the Chairman, Ing. Divine D. K. Kpetigo, has inaugurated a Seven-Member Search Committee to oversee the process for the appointment of a new Registrar for the University on May 26, 2026, at the Vice-Chancellor’s Boardroom.
The inauguration follows the fact, that the first term of the Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Baidoo ends on May 31, 2026, requiring the need for the appointment of a new Registrar in accordance with Schedule “H” of the Basic Laws of GCTU.
Addressing members of the Committee, the Chairman noted, that the position of Registrar remains central to the effective administration, governance and strategic direction of the institution.

Ing. Kpetigo expressed confidence in the competence and integrity of the appointed members. He indicated, that the University Council has entrusted the Committee with the responsibility of ensuring a credible and merit-based selection process that reflects the highest standards of fairness, accountability, professionalism and excellence. He expressed confidence that members would carry out their duties in the best interest of the University. Ing. Kpetigo administered the Oath of Office and Secrecy to the Committee members.
In his response to the inauguration, the Chairman of the Committee and former Registrar of UCC, Mr. Jeffery Teye Emmanuel Onyame, expressed the Committee’s commitment to working assiduously and with integrity to ensure a credible and successful outcome of its mandate. He further pledged that the Committee would uphold fairness, professionalism and diligence throughout the selection process.
Speaking on behalf of the University Management, the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Ebenezer Malcalm noted, that he considered the engagement, not merely as an interview process, but as a strategic conversation about the future direction, competitiveness and transformation of the University within Ghana and the sub-region.
Prof. Malcalm expressed hope that the Committee would identify and recommend the best candidate capable of providing strong administrative leadership and effectively steering the University’s administrative structure toward achieving its strategic goals.
