Interim Vice-Chancellor’s message

VICE-CHANCELLOR’S NEW YEAR (2021) MESSAGE TO GCTU

On behalf of the Council of Ghana Communication Technology University (GCTU) and Management, I would like to wish you all a Happy New Year and welcome you back to our University Campuses for the beginning of the 2020/2021 academic year.

I am confident that you are very much well rested from the holidays and I trust that you are prepared and poised to be part of the success story envisioned for our new brand – Ghana Communication Technology University.

Unfortunately, last year was not as pleasant to most businesses around the world due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was especially very difficult for many tertiary institutions.

Following the shutdown of tertiary institutions in March 2020, our university struggled almost throughout year but with Management’s resilience, persistence and great support from each and every one of you, we managed to provide tailor made solutions to the challenges we encountered, and we ended the year in high spirits and with a great deal of joy.

I am very proud of all the lecturers and administrative staff who continued to carry out their various roles during the challenging times.

I am very grateful to you for manning your posts, serving our students and fulfilling our mission especially when we decided to transfer over 90% of our courses online to offer the blended learning model to all our students. It is because of you all that even in such a turbulent time for everyone, we managed to chalk some great achievements in 2020.

Be reminded that, GCTU has been given a fresh start and I am inviting you all to be part of this success story. As a new university, we have been empowered by law, we have mobilized resources, and we have a great team of experts with different backgrounds.

Our foundation has been well laid and GCTU is positioned for greatness. I promise you that there will be numerous opportunities for growth and development for everyone who is ready to commit to hard work. With our renewed strengths and revitalized energies for the year, I encourage you all to make that individual contribution to the growth and development of our great University.

As always, my doors are open to all members and staff and will remain so throughout the year. Let us all continue to observe the COVID-19 Protocols following the recent circular released by the Registrar to the entire University community.
Wishing you an exciting new year on our way to greatness. God bless and protect us all over the COVID-19 pandemic, God bless GCTU and make us great!!! Thank you.

Professor Emmanuel Ohene Afoakwa.
