Bsc. Computing Science

The course provides a focused education for specific destinations in the computing industry. Graduates of the course will be software engineers with specialized skills particularly suited to the identified industries.  Graduates awarded with good grades will be equipped to engage in research to take up higher degree study.

The skills are also applicable to a wider range of industries and end destinations.Graduates holding the BSc award will have a clearly targeted and developed set of skills in software engineering. The course covers traditional areas of software engineering such as programming, database systems, software quality and process management, theoretical aspects of computer science, networking and systems architecture as well as taking in the latest developments and progress that has been made in the field.

The skills base of the course generally resides within the body of knowledge defined by the QAA Computing benchmark statement. As well as the technical focus, the course contains the content that prepares students in the social, ethical, legal and professional aspects of a cooperative human environment such as the workplace.

1. WASSCE/SSSCE APPLICANTS

Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSSCE) and WASSCE holders: Passes in three (3) core subjects with an aggregate including English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science, or Social Studies plus three (3) passes in Elective Mathematics and any other two elective subjects in the relevant areas of study.

2. GCE

General Certificate of Education (GCE) holders: Five (5) credit passes at GCE Ordinary Level including English and Mathematics. Passes at the GCE Advanced Level in three (3) subjects with grade D or better in the relevant field of study.

4. INTERNATIONAL BACCALAURETTE

Other Qualifications: International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, the American Grades 12 and 13 examinations, etc. which are equivalent to the SSSCE and GCE.

5. MATURE APPLICANTS

Mature Students: Mature applicants must be 25 years and above at the time of submitting the application, be in gainful employment and pass an entrance examination and interview.

6. TOP-UP

‘Top Up’ Applicants: Higher National Diploma (HND) from a recognized polytechnic with at least 2nd Class Lower Division and holders of verifiable diplomas from accredited tertiary institutions. This will be assessed on individual basis.

7. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

International Students: International students may be considered for admission if they hold qualifications equivalent to those stated above and demonstrate a competence to study using the English Language. In addition to the above entry qualification, the applicant shall be required to produce two letters of recommendation from his/her high school.

8. OTHER QUALIFICATION

Other Qualifications: International Baccalaureate (IB), IGCSE, GCSE, the American Grades 12 and 13 examinations, etc. which are equivalent to the SSSCE and GCE.
Holders of verifiable qualifications in courses of approved content in relevant field of study from recognized institutions. This is assessed on individual basis.

Applicants should please note that application submitted will not be processed until the cost of application form of GH¢150.00 is settled with banker’s draft from any bank.

Completed application forms with certified copies of Certificates / result slips should be submitted to the admissions offices before the closing date.

Online Application Procedure

  1. Purchase a voucher nationwide at Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB) at GH120.00  through the SMART _  PAY platformVisit GTUC website: www.gtuc.edu.gh and click on online application
  2. Enter the Serial Number and Pin on the voucher
  3. Complete application form, scan and attach your passport sized photograph and relevant documents
  4. Print a copy of the completed form and submit to GTUC Admissions Office
