Current Happening at GCTU



Sir Dr. Sam Jonah visited Ghana Technology University College (GTUC) at its main campus at Tesano, Accra.

The business magnate, who is the Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital, an equity fund based in Johannesburg, South Africa and an Advisory Council member of the UN Secretary General’s Global Compact, paid a special visit to the University during the third week of January.

The visit which was coordinated by the Institutional Advancement Office (IAO) was to afford him the opportunity to meet management of the University as a member of the GTUC Advisory Board and also to discuss issues of mutual interest.

Welcoming Dr. Sam Jonah to the school, Dr. Awuah Baffour expressed his gratitude to him for making time to visit and also for his interest in the University.

The short but very strategic meeting lasted for about twenty minutes and issues discussed included the seven storey hostel project.

In his remarks, Dr. Sam Jonah expressed satisfaction with the growth of GTUC over the past few years and suggested alternative ways of funding to support projects and programmes. He also commended GTUC prudent utilization of its land.
Dr. Jonah was taken round the campus on a tour to key centres and also to the proposed site for the hostel project.

Also present at the meeting were Madam ML Brookshire (outgoing Head, Institutional Advancement), Mr. Emmanuel Adjepong (Head, Human Resource) and Mr. William Sarfo (Head, Finance). Also in attendance were Ms. Evelyn Asiedu (Head, Student Affairs), Lt. Col. (Rtd) Ibrahim Mamah (Head, Transport and Security) and Mr. Japhet Otchere Gyamfi representing Head, University Relations, Mr. Eric Appah (Alumni Relations Officer), and Ms. Fatu Esi Sesay (Administrative Assistant).
